Death At A Funeral is an almost scene-by-scene remake of a British farce of the same name from 2007.The setting has been moved from rural England to suburban LA, the character's re-occupied by a cast of African-American comedy talent. A few pop-culture references are re-appropriated. Audiences spit out their popcorn laughing as faeces goes everywhere, a dwarf get's force-fed homemade hallucinogenics, the recently deceased falls out of his coffin, someone ends up naked on the roof. The audience leaves after a 'rib cracking' good time, the actors get their paycheques, the studio watches the money roll in. Everyone's a winner. Except if this description doesn't have you cracking up already, it's probably safe to say this isn't for you.
This lazy remake takes a well-acted but slightly annoying British farce and turns it into an even more annoying American gross-out comedy. There really isn't much else to say, though there are superficial differences, one fact remains: The film wasn't particularly funny in the first place, and it's no funnier now.
