CAPTAIN CORRELLI’S MANDOLIN (2001). The book was OK in a middle class, middlebrow kind of way, but the film is pure gorgonzola. Set on a Greek island during WW2, we have to put up with a) Penelope Cruz being tempestuously beautiful, b) Nicolas Cage speaking ina da Eetalian accent and c) a preposterous plot. And then the audience heads off to Cephallonia for their holiday.
