BEFORE THE DEVIL KNOWS YOU’RE DEAD (2007). Philip Seymour Hoffman is as magnetic as always in this gripping film from Sidney Lumet, who has been making films for nearly 60 years (including 12 Angry Men). He is the bully browbeating his weaker brother, Ethan Hawke, into an absurd plan that ends in tears. Give it a try.
