BASIC INSTINCT (1992). An archetypal 90s film, full of glossy sex and violence, with Michael Douglas as the cop who can’t keep his trousers on, and is in danger of getting screwed in every sense of the word – probably by Sharon Stone. Director Paul Verhoeven and writer Joe Eszterhas make an entertaining but mindless and meaningless film into a huge hit. Avoid the sequel.
