ADAPTATION (2002). Perhaps the definitive Charlie Kaufman film, which also proves that contrary to appearances, Nicolas Cage can be really good when he puts his mind to it. Pointless to try to explain the plot, let alone why it’s funny, but just take my word that this is one of the most sophisticated comedies in decades, which is also a blistering analysis of what’s wrong with Hollywood.
